Merewether Surf Life Saving Club
Four generations of the Taggart family have been recognised for their ongoing support of the local community.
The Taggart family, together with Taggart Partners and Newcastle City Holden, recently helped support the purchase of a new surf boat for the under 19s crew of Merewether Surf Club.
The boat, the Alan Taggart, was officially launched on Sunday 11 March 2007 on Merewether beach. It was launched in front of the world’s cameras and audiences when organisers of the world-class surfing event, Surfest, broke protocol to allow the launch to interrupt the day’s events.
Alan Taggart and his wife Norma were joined by Ross and wife Rosalie and their son Cameron. Alan’s father, Bill, began the tradition of surf club membership when he joined the Merewether Club in 1920. Ross and Cameron are both members of the club, with Cameron being the fourth generation member.

The Community’s Own
Taggart Partners staff are proudly part of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service Payroll Deduction Scheme and donate a couple of tax deductible dollars each week. Taggart Partners matches their generous donations dollar for dollar.
The Service operates three Rescue Helicopters from its Broadmeadow and Tamworth bases and provides vital aeromedical services to the people of the Hunter, Mid North Coast, New England and North West. No one who has been transported has ever had to pay because the people of this community generously provide the funds to ensure it is there when and where it is needed.
